One of the previous owners of my car decided it was a good idea to weld the lock nut of my strut on. Only way I could get this bastard apart (safely) was with a hack saw and a spring compressor.
In retrospect I should have just gone to the fracking junkyard and pulled an entire strut and started from there... especially since I had to go and pull one apart for part of the assembly anyways ( I'll be damned if I remember what it was).
I got lucky otherwise, everytime I get ready to do a bunch of the usual maintenance bits I find it's already been taken care of! _________________

Was changing a timing belt on a friends car and to my surprise there was no tensioner spring or pin installed. I thought I dropped them upon removal of the tensioner pully, but after searching high and low, I concluded they were never reinstalled the last time the belt was done. I estimate the car had 20k plus miles on it like that. I was shocked. _________________ 1991 M5 (sold)
